Real-Life Church Purchasing Stories

Journey Community Church, a church plant in Fernley, Nevada, held their launch service this past Sunday. They experienced a great first Sunday! We have been pleased to partner with Journey in this effort. When Rod Idle, their Lead Pastor phoned us a few months ago, his call was similar to almost every call we receive from a church planter. They go something like this, “We’re planting a church and we don’t have much money!” We love this type of call though since it is exactly what we do, save churches money.

What made this particular call especially interesting is that Rod had been encouraged to work with another furnishings company by his oversight national church-planting group. He had obtained pricing from them and wanted to be sure he was stretching every dollar as far as he could. The furnishing list was not huge, but here is what he found on exactly the same items.

• Rod needed a total of 18 chairs from Jonti-Craft for his children’s ministries. We saved him $127 on these chairs over his recommended dealer.
• Rod needed 9 tables from Correll for his coffee area and for children’s ministries. We saved him $108 on these nine tables compared to the dealer he was encouraged to work with.
• Rod asked us to quote 3 area “faith-based” rugs from Joy Carpets to be used in his children’s ministries area. Amazingly, we were able to save Rod $155 on these; though he had been assured the pricing he was receiving from the company his oversight group had endorsed would be the lowest.
